Hi! Nice to meet you. Really. Really.
I know you’re here because you want to learn more about me…so….here goes…
I’m a talker.
I love to talk. I’ll talk your ear off about my kids, my favorite pants that don’t fit, how to SEO your website, the best way to make meatloaf, where I went on vacation, the amazing sale I found on organic tomatoes or how your husband is being a jerk for just being too dense to understand why it is critical for your sense of well-being to spend at least an hour a day on Pinterest.
I’m a cuss-er.
GASP! I cuss. Swear. Use four-letter words. Partake in “salty” language. Paint with profanity. WAIT! Before you get your panties all in a wad, I do try to keep it PG-13 ish. Sometimes I slip into an R-rating. If your really worried about it, just look for Salty The Sailor (I call him Magnus) he’s here to warn you of any posts that contain strong language. Then you get to decide if you want to read. See? It’s a win, win. Like pie with ice-cream. If your lactose intolerant you skip the ice-cream, but enjoy the pie. If you don’t want to read PG-13 ish stuff, then move along to the next post where you don’t see Salty The Sailor.
I’m shy.
(Shut-up! Everyone whose ever know me. Ever.)
Let me tell you what I don’t like talking about: me. (I said, knock it off! The laughing is disruptive.) Well, more like I don’t like writing about me. It goes against my southern upbringing and makes me feel all self-conscious and unlady-like and stuff. But not the swearing, I’m cool with the swearing.
I’m a mom.
I have two boys. Not babies. Not toddlers. Not even little kids. Two boys. One on his way to becoming a man and in a few short years fleeing the nest. You won’t get diapering tips here. Sorry. I love being a mom, but really who doesn’t love being a mom? Saying you don’t like being a mom is like saying you like to pull the whiskers off of kittens and make baby harp seals cry. Look, you might as well go fly your broom up to the tip top of Mount Crumpet and join the green guy dragging that poor dog around with him. So we all agree. Being a mom is awesome, amazing..blah, blah, blah.
I’m a graphic designer.
I make things pretty then get to listen to some of my clients destroy my work by committee and some of my other clients ooo-and-ah-and-gush over how amazingly talented and brilliant I am. It’s a bi-polar profession to be sure. It’s fun and it’s not. You know. Even if you love something, after awhile it can feel like work too. Take the kids for example. These are the jokes, folks.
I’m an entrepreneur.
Though I wish I knew how to spell it – thank you spell check! Ahem. I’m an award-winning entrepreneur. I’ve been featured on a few blogs, been in the Houston Chronicle, done guest speaking and the like. It’s fun. It’s frustrating. It’s like being lactose intolerant and being offered pie with ice-cream.
I’m divorced.
Yup. Put the cart before the horse when I was 25 and got divorced when I was 38. Just because I’m divorced doesn’t mean I don’t know a thing or two about family. Stop being so judgy would ya? My ex-husband and I had a wonderful family life. It was everything we both wanted it to be – kids included. I have always been really good at the family part. I was even really good at the wife part. Problem is, I wasn’t taking care of the me part and that had to change.
I’m afflicted.
At the age of 27 I was diagnosed with lupus. Sorta. They really don’t know what the hell is wrong with me. Could be lupus. Could be rheumatoid arthritis. Doctor after doctor can’t give me a real diagnosis. We treat symptoms. I hurt most of the time, but I try not to let that get in the way of my sunny disposition. Stop laughing, mom. I am sunny!
I’m a champion.
Not the Olympic kind. I wish! I champion causes that are near and dear to me. Fight tooth and nail for them. Sometime, I might ask you to join in the fight too. Or at least think about whatever bee is in my bonnet.
I’m crunchy.
Not so granola that I have arm-pit hair, but definitely crunchy. I make my own laundry soap, deodorant, toothpaste, grow herbs and veggies, eat organic…blah, blah, blah. You know the type. You’ve met me.
I’m real.
Well hell, in my attempt at trying to “keep it real” and not all “I love being a mom!”, “I love my job!”, “I love my life!” I realized I sound like a bit of a cranky-sour-puss. I’m not. The real me is verbose, loud, fun, playful, out-going, silly, bossy, demanding, friendly, helpful, lawful, and prayerful. I like to travel, camp, garden, hike, sing, and play video games with my boys. Yup. I’m a gaming mom. Coolest one of the block too.
I’m flawed.
I have my own set of baggage and a closet I keep it in. Right next to the skeletons. I’m working on it. Always trying to be better today than yesterday. That part is universal. That is what is really cool. We are all flawed. Me and you. And we make the world one hell of an interesting place, don’t ya’ think?
I’m on facebook!
I’m all over the social web and I would really love to get to know you AND if you would really like to get to know me, then please, don’t be a lurker lurking in his lurkim, come and say “Hi!” You can add me to your facebook steam just by hitting the little “Like” button over on the right. You don’t even have to leave this site. How easy is that? C’mon do it now. Please? I already told you I was bossy. 🙂
I like to help.
That’s why I started this blog. So that I could share the little tips and tricks I’ve learned about surviving modern motherhood with you and hopefully, you’ll share some of your tips with me. We moms, we’re good like that. So, now that you know a little more about me why not check out some of my posts. Just click on the subject that interests you over on the right. Again, easy.
